Summertime does not mean you must leave layering behind; it simply means you must adjust your tactics! I paired this loose, light knit vest with a long sleeved thin tee – the perfect combo for this time of year, when it’s not quite hot but not quite cold. Later in the summer, when things really start to heat up and it’s too hot for sleeves, I will trade in this tee for a short sleeve version in a fun color, and swap the long jeans for some cute distressed denim shorts. A knit vest such as this allows you to enjoy the layered look without boiling yourself to death in the summer heat.

A wide belt cinched around your middle provides a figure when wearing a loose outer layer. You can wear the belt over the vest to keep things close together, or underneath it, allowing the vest to hang free while still showing off those gorgeous curves. Keep it simple with a solid color that matches your vest, jazz things up with something sequined or sparkly, or add a little bad girl to the ensemble with studsΒ  or chains. Whatever style of belt you choose, try to keep the main color of the belt the same as your vest. IMO, this pulls the look together nicely – especially if this matches your shoes/bag. Go wild with your shirt, and keep everything else related for a polished but fun look.

Things seem to finally be leveling out for me, and I promise I will be updating regularly again from this point forward. I’m considering setting a specific time frame every day that’s completely devoted to this blog. Honestly, I don’t see how that would be too difficult, considering that I don’t really do much of anything most days.

I have been getting out a lot more the last few days. I went to the mall today! I didn’t even make it out of Forever 21 though… What can I say??? I LOVE that store. I bought an entire new outfit for about $100! I really shouldn’t have spent so much, but considering what I got and how much I love it, I don’t regret it too much. I will definitely post pictures tomorrow night! Travis is taking me on a date and I’m going to wear my awesome new outfit for it πŸ™‚

Tomorrow, Travis is taking me to see Iron Man 2, and we’re going to the mall again. I went by myself today, it was nice to get out and have some “me” time. I’m actually really glad I got to go by myself today. He normally loathes going to the mall, but I am insisting that he buys new clothes now that we have some money… He only has one pair of jeans that doesn’t have holes in the knees, and he could definitely use a few more shirts. So I’m dragging him down there tomorrow afternoon, and I plan to explore the rest of the mall as well.

I might be visiting home next week, probably from the 1st to the 5th. If I end up going, posting will prolly be sporadic again. I want to go, to see my family… but it would be really nice to have the house to ourselves for the week. I miss my daddy, but I also miss living on my own. If it were only for a couple of days I would probably go, but it’s almost the entire week – we would be staying at Travis’s mom’s house, without my laptop and without my car, and all of my friends live at least an hour away. I think I would be bored stiff. It could give me a chance to catch up on my reading, but I would also have zero privacy. Whereas, if we stay here, we’d have the house all to ourselves for five days…. I dunno. I hate making decisions.

Again, I’m sorry for the inconsistency in my posting lately. I want you all to know that I do read and very much appreciate every comment left here, even if I don’t answer you immediately. And I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway – I will post the winner tomorrow! πŸ™‚ I’m even gonna be super nice and let you enter until noon PST tomorrow (Thursday, May 27th). I’ll post the winner sometime after that!

I have some incredible news!

Gray & White Top/Express Jeans

Chandelier Earrings

top [JC Penney], white layering tank [Fruit of the Loom], jeans [ReRock by Express], shoes [JC Penney], earrings [Forever 21]

Feeling laid back today and wanted to go with something easy. Almost didn’t post this outfit, because it isn’t really much, but I love this shirt and these shoes. And these are my favoritest jeans – my ReRock by Express.

To dress this top up a bit, I simply cinch a wide black belt around my waist and throw on my heels. These buckle wedges are actually the shoes my bride’s maids wore at my wedding. I talked my little sister into giving me hers (I love having a sister the same size as me!). I wore ballet flats most of the day but decided these wedges might be cuter for pictures. Went out for drinks and threw my black Bebe trench on over it – perfect for the spring weather. I really wish it would warm up already!!!

I LOVE dangly earrings. If I could only wear one jewelry item for the rest of my life (other than my wedding ring), I would absolutely choose earrings. My mom refused to let me get my ears pierced when I was younger – I didn’t get them pierced till I was 20 years old! But now they are definitely my favorite accessory. My collection is pretty ridiculous.

Thanks for the comments and support on my posts from last night. It means a lot to me πŸ™‚

I’m seriously beginning to wonder if there is something wrong in my head. I feel a pretty constant, dull pressure on the back of my head, just below the crown, like something is pushing against my brain. It doesn’t hurt BAD today, like usual, which is nice and has allowed me to figure out where the pain is coming from, but it’s kinda scary. I don’t think I’ve hit my head recently…

But on a much happier note, I have some INCREDIBLE news!!! One of my favorite bloggers of all time, Elizabeth over at Delightfully Tacky, recently offered a giveaway to her readers: a $25 gift certificate to ThreadSence. And guess what??? I won!!! Woohoo!!! How fantastic is that? I am so excited! BUT I’m having a problem – I can’t decide what to get! I’m going to narrow it down to my top three picks and then post them here, and I would really love it if you guys would help me pick! They have some pretty killer stuff, and I’ve been dying for an update to my wardrobe, so this will definitely get me started. Yay!!!!

The season finale of Vampire Diaries was INSANE. LOVE that show. All I can say is, OHMYGOD. Please excuse me while I revert to a giggly high school girl and drool over Damien. Stefan is pretty hot too, but I think Damien has more of the tormented vibe that I like in my vampire heroes. I nearly died when they canceled Angel. Stefan has always tried to be good, but Damien is just barely discovering that capacity in himself, and tuning back into his soul because of his love for Elena – the one emotion he can’t shut off is starting to bring out the others. And it’s sad, because I think he really is trying to be a better person, but Stefan doesn’t seem to want to give him that chance.

Okay… done analyzing the vampire show. πŸ™‚

Do me a flavor? Vote for my outfit on Chictopia & on Mode Republic – and don’t forget to leave me comments so I know you were there! πŸ™‚

Oh, and I seem to remember that last time I posted photos of these jeans, I promised you a close up of the stud detailing along the top. Happy Christmas! ::

GUESS WHAT?!?! I have some fantastic news!

Went shopping today. Which is always a mistake, because I either a) spend lots of money, then regret it and get really depressed; or b) don’t spend any money and get really depressed because I can’t have the things I want. Either way, it almost always leads to depression, sadness and arguments with T.

Today, I was definitely depressed about not being able to get all of the stuff that I wanted. There was a denim button up shirt at Express that I want DESPERATELY, but it’s $59.50 and I *definitely* don’t have that much money.

However – and here comes the fantastic part of the day – they were having a really great clearance sale that happened to include a bunch of jeans. I snagged a pair of jeans that are regularly $98.00 for $22!!!! How genius is that?!? I’m a little excited… I’ve always lusted after Express jeans but T has never allowed me to splurge on them. He was pretty pissed that I even got these ones… but I decided since I’m the one working for the moment, I get a little treat. Yay me πŸ™‚ I also got a white racer back tank from Forever 21 for $4.50. Not a huge haul, but a good one.

I’m not going to buy any more clothes until we get to CA. I want to see what’s going on there before I invest too much in Utah fashions. Obviously I will stick to stuff I like and I’m comfy in, but I also don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb. I’ll get my paycheck from this job around May 5th, and I think I’m going to take $50 or so of that pay check and summer-ize my wardrobe. Who knows??? Maybe I will indulge myself in the denim shirt from Express! I’m also going to clean out my closet in the next couple of days and take everything I don’t wear down to Plato’s Closet and sell it off.

Today was also the first day I used my new purse… it was perfect for shopping! I love my Bebe purse, but it’s huge and it’s a pain in the ass when I’m shopping. This tiny little purse from Vanity was easy to keep track of, but didn’t get in my way while I was browsing. I am definitely a huge fan of the small shoulder bag now!

It was a really nice day, too. I was able to wear my new shorts for the first time today. My legs are so white! I went to the Gateway (the outdoor mall), so I’m hoping that I got at least a little bit of color. I don’t want to be super tan, but I’m tired of looking like a ghost.

Anyway, I’ll definitely post pictures tomorrow. I’m so psyched about my new jeans! Hope everyone else had a good Saturday!
